# HYFIX Firmware Update

Update Hyfix Device Firmware and Client versions

**Hyfix Device Firmware:** The firmware that your device shipped with may not be the latest and may not function as intended until it is updated. You can find the current firmware version at the bottom of the Hyfix WebUI Device Status page.\
\
The latest available firmware version from HYFIX is `v2.0.51`.\
\
If the firmware version is older than v2.0.36, the station can't update itself and the update has to be pushed by HYFIX. Contact support using the chat icon at the bottom right of this page, or email <support@wingbits.com>, with your station ID and firmware version. We will guide you through the next steps.

If the firmware version is at or above v2.0.36, you can update to the latest version yourself by going to the Firmware Upgrade menu and selecting "Upgrade FW".\
It should take about 10-15mins depending on internet speed and will reboot at the end.

Once the firmware update is complete, turn the station off at the power for 30 seconds. This resets the hardware modules.

Hyfix will push out any firmware updates that are critical for normal functioning of the device. Updates that are cosmetic or do not affect the regular functioning of the device can be updated manually if you wish.

**Wingbits Client version:** The Wingbits client on the device will automatically update as new versions are available. However, if your device came with a very old version of the client, it may not be able to automatically update and may require a manual download.\
\
You can check the client version in the Hyfix WebUI Device Status page by clicking on the "Open Wingbits Metrics" link. It will open a new tab with a list of metrics. The client version is available at the bottom of the list.\
\
If the client version is older than v1.10.1 or is the older style with letters and numbers (eg. 4c6d1b44, 95f4b2bd, b6c05f44), you will need to manually update it.\
This can be done by pressing the "Upgrade Wingbits" button on the Firmware Upgrade page.\
It should take about 5-10mins depending on internet speed.<br>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.wingbits.com/hyfix/hyfix-firmware-update.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
