# Wingbits Onboarding

## Login to Wingbits site

Visit the [Wingbits dashboard](https://wingbits.com/dashboard) and either sign into your existing account or create a new account.

## Register station

{% hint style="info" %}
If you have a station setup with a reserved location, you can skip to the next section
{% endhint %}

If you have not already registered a station and reserved a hex, you will need to visit the “My stations” page and click “Register new station” and follow the prompts to add your new station. You will not be able to add a station in a location that has already been claimed by another station.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Do not delete your station at any point in this process.** You will remove your reservation on your location and another user will be able to immediately reserve it for themselves. This will result in you being unable to deploy the device in the intended location.
{% endhint %}

## Onboarding process

If you have a camera or phone that can scan a QR code, the easiest way to onboard your station to the Wingbits network is by scanning the QR code on the label on the bottom of your HYFIX device. This will pre-populate the Device Serial and Device Secret needed.

If you do not have a phone or other device that can scan a QR code, go to the onboarding page [via this link](https://wingbits.com/setup?device=hyfix).

<figure><img src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXdLHzVvvNvZUMNpLiGigaudAzjEumzaqhMMq8nmnJnk1cD5AgTreawbYPBNelGdC3GFQpbyXihvV819YwaxD9xhi9GxWJaIp178suVOUUHqEGWSuWIMfji3td_5IMm87I6KIeCpag?key=lRN6O-yEeOp46G611NhOK3Sw" alt=""><figcaption><p>QR code label on bottom of HYFIX device</p></figcaption></figure>

### Wingbits Onboarding page

After scanning the QR code or clicking the link, it will take you to the “Welcome Onboard” page. Scroll down and click on the “Proceed to Dashboard” button.

<figure><img src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXdeEhJ2ea6f0FBeiIU7L5gMuKSlcq0gvZIYhVpz0si05Q2AeKKaBULQumiPy3qR_uOTb4I-TJPeEuYSPkbLyxiVQVQT62c07xkhoANhUM8ozakEPfPcg6kZZuZVc6_KF_m2rpuHaw?key=lRN6O-yEeOp46G611NhOK3Sw" alt=""><figcaption><p>HYFIX Welcome Onboard Page</p></figcaption></figure>

### Locating Link button

You will now arrive at the “My stations” page, and you should see a button next to your pre-registered station that says “Link HYFIX”. Click this button and you will see a pop-up window.

<figure><img src="https://3186240306-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fnbjjg7nGERQyZZZcAh7D%2Fuploads%2FFa04y3tKPyyMYOAsCfm5%2FScreenshot%202025-04-02%20120259.png?alt=media&#x26;token=505c7732-45b7-4ea8-8859-d6ec39ffb7d7" alt=""><figcaption><p>"My stations" page showing "Link HYFIX" button</p></figcaption></figure>

If the "Link HYFIX" button is red, your location reservation has expired and your location is not currently claimed. Only in this case, delete the station and immediately create a new one claiming the available location, which will put a 6 hour reservation on that location. Then proceed with linking the device.

<figure><img src="https://3186240306-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fnbjjg7nGERQyZZZcAh7D%2Fuploads%2FC69E5jKsKlzIuCVMO9MF%2FScreenshot%202025-04-02%20120319.png?alt=media&#x26;token=84a79b96-dd84-4822-b7bf-72e7b6ba13fa" alt=""><figcaption><p>Station without reservation, can't link</p></figcaption></figure>

If the Link HYFIX button is missing and you are on a mobile device, try turning the screen to landscape mode as it may be a visible space issue. If you still don't see it, click on the 3 dots on the right hand side of the station row and select the Link Hyfix link. If all this fails, we suggest trying again on a desktop pc.

### Link Device

If you started by scanning the QR code, the Link Device pop-up should have the Device Serial and Device Secret information pre-filled. If you did not scan the QR code, these fields will be blank. However you can find the Device Serial labelled SN/W on the side label and the Device Secret on the bottom label.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The first 100 MGW310 devices do not have the WB serial number on the side label. If you do not use the QR code, you can find this serial number at the bottom of the page on the device's dashboard when you login to the device IP. It will be on the Wingbits Serial Number line and start with 0123.
{% endhint %}

Once the information is filled in, click the “Link Device” button on the bottom right of the pop-up. After processing, you should see a popup at the bottom right of the screen saying “Device linked successfully”.

<figure><img src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXfNU3tAKMCeUhRpx9Zmovlx5XHQ9i5EUTqngdDfTCkJvD9TaxAtJV_B44l6WRFEOLSPb8R2uad67Ci46kt2xG8OirBMr4o_wzd-R60biZJ1M8U-kW4QoK858g6YFlAIW4erSQTLTg?key=lRN6O-yEeOp46G611NhOK3Sw" alt=""><figcaption><p>"Device linked successfully" popup</p></figcaption></figure>

## Confirming Link

The page should now update and you should see a serial number populated. Assuming your station is online and has a GPS signal, you should see an “Online” status as well as a tick next to the location field, indicating it has been successfully claimed. If you do not see the page update, wait a few minutes and then refresh the “My stations” page and it should update.

<figure><img src="https://3186240306-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fnbjjg7nGERQyZZZcAh7D%2Fuploads%2FG5wUgfBFqm95FjYFif1T%2FScreenshot%202025-04-02%20115534.png?alt=media&#x26;token=1d3a9a33-7972-4d82-9daf-8cb3e32f0906" alt=""><figcaption><p>"My stations" page showing successfully linked Hyfix device</p></figcaption></figure>

If you see an "Action needed" bar and when clicked it shows the below, please ensure the device base is outside and can see the satellites, then give it additional time to obtain GPS satellite locks and identify the location properly. "-1 meters" means it hasn't obtained that GPS information yet.

<figure><img src="https://3186240306-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fnbjjg7nGERQyZZZcAh7D%2Fuploads%2Fne2NeYi2tWLECrpBLW27%2Fbadgps.png?alt=media&#x26;token=1fd84e80-58bf-40a5-aeb2-43b0c08c7abe" alt=""><figcaption><p>Station that hasn't gotten GPS data yet.</p></figcaption></figure>

### Station statistics

If you click on the station name, and then on the “Statistics” tab, you should see more info about the station, such as the last heartbeat time and other information from the client as shown below. This information may not be available until after the first heartbeat is sent from the station (every 10 minutes).

<figure><img src="https://3186240306-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fnbjjg7nGERQyZZZcAh7D%2Fuploads%2FtGSgtyBeZ6iXS5GJRqme%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=499c9ee8-ed87-4061-902a-2156d0750bb0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If your station is changing between online and offline status, check your firmware version on the Station's statistics page or the device's webui (at the bottom). If the version is less than 2.0.36 please just keep the station powered and connected to the internet and the firmware will be updated by Hyfix within a couple business days.

The same applies if you see the station online but the Station's statistics page shows red values in multiple boxes relating to Input and Server messages. There is no need to make a support ticket if the firmware version is less than 2.0.36 (or shows as 1.0.0) until the station has had a couple business days to have the firmware updated.

## GEODNET onboarding

If you purchased a device which can also mine GEOD token such as the HYFIX MGW310 then you can now visit the GEODNET documentation website and follow the guide to [add a base station to the console](https://docs.geodnet.com/geodnet-console-platform-basics/add-a-base-station-to-console).
