Remove your device, the ADS-B antenna, the 10m combined power and Ethernet cable and the power supply from the packaging box.
Remove the protective cap from the antenna port on the top of the miner. Grab the ADS-B antenna and push the connector on the bottom of the antenna onto the connector on the top of the device. Once they are pushed together, you can then screw the “collar” of the antenna side until it is tight.
Grab the moulded right-angle end of the cable as below. If you look at the end of the cable and the corresponding connector on the right hand side of the device, you will see that both of them have a notch at the bottom. Line up the two notches, and then push the cable end into the connector, making sure to push it in as far as you can. Once it is pushed in, you can then screw the “collar” of the cable end onto the connector tightly to secure the cable to the device (and make sure it stays watertight).
Plug in the power adapter to a wall socket, and plug the DC jack end of the adapter into the corresponding socket on the end of the cable. The miner will power on and you will see some lights start to flash on the side (you can read more about the functionality of the LEDs below).
If you plan to use Ethernet only, or both Ethernet and WiFi you can skip to the next section.
If you plan to use WiFi only, you do not need to plug in the Ethernet cable and can just leave it loose. Shortly after the device powers up, you will see a WiFi Access Point appear called MGW310_XXXXXX or WB200_XXXXXX where the Xs are the last 6 digits of the serial number of your device. Connect to this WiFi AP, using your miner serial number (labeled SN/G on the side sticker) as the password.
Once you connect successfully, open a web browser window and visit the URL http://192.168.10.1. This will take you to the device setup page. Fill in your WiFi SSID and password of the network you want to connect to.
If you have an MGW310 you also need to configure your Miner Key which needs to be 12 to 18 alphanumeric characters, with no special characters. You choose this key and it is only used to link later on the GEODNET console.
You can then click “Save”.
After saving, you will see the below status page saying "Applying settings..." and once it gets to 100% it will redirect you to the GEODNET website (if MGW310).
Plug the Ethernet cable into your router, switch, or similar network device. The network device must provide an internet connection for the HYFIX station.
Once the device is connected to your network, you can then visit the backend webpage of your internet router. Alternatively you can use an app like Fing or Network Analyzer on your mobile device connected to the same network. Once there you should see a device labelled either MGW310_XXXXXX or WB200_XXXXXX where the Xs are the last 6 digits of the serial number of your device.
Click into the device in your router or app and you should find the IP address of your miner as shown below.
Enter the ip address of the HYFIX device into a browser on a device on the same network.
You can also access the miner webUI using an mDNS domain name. For example http://mgw310_xxxxxx.local or http://wb200_xxxxxx.local where the Xs are the last 6 digits of the serial number of your device. However, this does not work on all systems and browsers so we recommend using the IP address where possible.
Once you see the webUI login page, enter the GEODNET serial number (SN/G on the side label on the device) as the password and click the “Login” button.
You will then arrive on the “Device Status” page. If you want to configure WiFi you need to click on the Settings dropdown menu and then on “Network”. Fill in your SSID and Password and click “Connect WiFi”.
You can see that the WB200 and MGW310 "Device Status" pages are similar but the WB200 has a few less fields that are only relevant to the GEODNET mining on the MGW310.
If you need to change your WiFi settings in the future (or if the "Device setup" page did not appear for you for any reason like you setup on ethernet originally), you can click on Settings and then Network and you will see a page where you can configure WiFi. If you want to disconnect WiFi altogether, you can click the button "Go to AP Mode".
If you have a MGW310 and need to change your Miner Key to something different (or forgot what it was before you onboarded to GEODNET) you can:
Visit the "Miner Settings" page by clicking the Settings dropdown and then on Miner.
Remember that the key must be between 12 and 18 characters long and cannot contain any special characters.
If you update the key at any point, make sure click “Save” and then reboot or power cycle your device to make sure the new key gets picked up on the GEODNET console.
You can also use this page at any time (on WB200 or MGW310) to reboot your device, or to turn off the graphs1090/tar1090 interface (by changing the "Graphs Switch" setting to off).
You can now move on to onboarding your device to the Wingbits network.
If you purchased an MGW310 you can also onboard it to the GEODNET network.
On the HYFIX WB200 and MGW310 there are three LEDs on the side of each device labelled "POWER", "PPS" and "Status". You can see below a table of the various LED statuses.
Inside the box you will also find a 5/8"-11 threaded rod (12 inches long) and three sets of mounting clips as shown below.
The threaded rod screws into the flange on the bottom of the device as shown below. To ensure that the device is mounted securely, you should screw it in by hand as tightly as you can.
The self-tapping threaded screws mount each clip to a wall or post. After you screw each one to the wall in a straight line (using a spirit level or similar) you can then clip the threaded rod into the clips and secure the rod in place tightly using the bolt, nut and washer. When fully mounted it will look something similar to the below pictures.
