To check if your area still has an open spot, please navigate to the explorer in the dashboard and then toggle on the stations view by clicking the cell tower icon () at the top right of the map. If you see that the location is open (no location hex present), you can follow the below instructions to reserve your location.
Please note, you can only reserve a single location one time per account. After you claim your area, no one else can claim the same area, so all hexagons will only contain one station. The area/hexagon is not transferable. If you change the location of the station to outside of the claimed area, the previous hexagon will unlock immediately, opening it for others to claim.
There are three main steps for registering your station and claiming the location hex until your Wingbits Approved Hardware arrives from the distributor of your choice.
Reserve your location and register your station.
Buy a Wingbits Approved Device from one of the distributors.
Extend the reservation to 6 months for free by entering the discount code received from the distributor.
We have created a walkthrough video showing you the process from start to finish which you can see below. However if you prefer a text guide you can jump to the reserve your hex section below.
First you need to visit the Stations page of the dashboard. You will see a button that says Register Station. Click this button and a modal will pop up. Read the instructions, and once you are happy you can tick the box confirming you have read the above and then click next.
You will then see a screen where you need to enter the street address or map coordinates of the location you will install your Wingbits station. The Alias field is an optional "friendly" name you can give your station. If the location is free, the background of the map area will appear green, and the Next button will turn from grey to orange. If the area is already taken, the background of the map area will appear red, the Next button will remain grey and you will see some red text saying "Unfortunately, this location is occupied right now."
Once you click the Next button from the above, you are taken to a confirmation screen where you can confirm the address and other details. If you need to correct anything you can click the back arrow at the top of the modal. Otherwise in order to continue you can optionally click on the "distributor" link highlighted which will open a new tab/window with the list of the distributors. Then click the Reserve Location button.
You will now see the location in your Stations list. You will notice that under the Location column the station you just added says it is reserved for 6 hours. You will now need to proceed to purchase your Wingbits station.
In order to see a list of our approved distributors you can visit the Wingbits Approved Distributors page. We urge you to only buy a station from one of these distributors otherwise there is a chance you could get scammed by an unscrupulous seller.
Visit one of these sellers, select the device of your choice and proceed through the checkout as per normal.
Once you have completed the order process, you should receive a "Discount Code" or "Hex Reservation Code" via email. An example from the HYFIX website is shown below:
Copy the code from the email, and then return back to the Stations page of the Wingbits dashboard.
When you return back to the Stations page you will see a button that says Extend Reservation. Click this button and you will see a modal window pop up. Select the correct station in the top dropdown and in the second dropdown you should select the option "6 months (preorder hardware) - $120". You will notice it says there is a charge of $120, but the coupon code from the email in the previous section will reduce this down to 0. After you have read the Terms & Conditions and the Litepaper and ticked the appropriate boxes, you will then see the Proceed button turn from grey to orange. Click Proceed and you will be taken through to the Stripe payment page.
On the left hand side under the Subtotal section you will see a button that says "Add promotion code". Click this button, paste in the code that you copied from the email above and then click Apply next to the text area. Fill in your contact information on the right hand side (your email should auto-populate). Once complete, click Complete order and you will then be returned back to the Stations page on the Wingbits dashboard.
You will now see under the Location column that the location is reserved for 6 months (180 days). Ample time for your distributor to deliver your Wingbits station and you to set it up at the location!
Please note, from Oct 14th, 2024 we will no longer allow registering of BYOD stations. We have left this section in for reference purposes of existing BYOD station owners.
Register your station in your exact location. During the process you will be prompted to checkout with a purchase of a GeoSigner. You will need this Wingbits created usb device to be added to your station once they are shipped, in order to continue earning rewards. This also includes a 30 day reservation for you to obtain the BYOD components and get your station online.
As long as you deploy your station before the end of the reservation period, you will claim the station location. If you fail to deploy within that timeframe, the area will automatically open back up.
As soon as the station goes online, you will automatically claim your spot and the "reserved" status will change to "claimed" on the Stations page.
